It’s 2016 and also my birthday month, so I thought of gifting you guys something.
Thought of busting some of your myths.;)
Here they are,
Myth no. 3 –
CARDIO MAKES YOU LOSE WEIGHT FASTER
Do you really think so?
Ok let’s be honest, when I was a newbie even I thought so😓. Not ANYMORE.
Doing only cardio makes you thin but not fit.
Cardio does makes you lose faster – AGREED
But, there is a lot more to it. Don’t be MISINFORMED.
It is true that you will lose faster but would that be worth it. I really don’t think so, why?
When you lose weight through cardio, you actually lose your MUSCLE and not FAT.
Building muscle is anyway a difficult task and while doing a lot of cardio you will also lose the muscle which you have right now.
It will make you look dull, less energetic, you’ll be drained, skin will become darker and mind you that fat will still be there, and don’t forget those bulges and hanging flesh.
Weight loss at the cost of all this, I don’t think so.
You need wholesome workouts too just like your diet.
Myth no. 2
1 OR 2 HOURS ON THE TREADMILL OR ANY CARDIO MACHINE WILL MAKE ME THIN.
OK! you really need to understand all this. Don’t just follow the “buff bros” or “skinny girls” in gym.
What’s the logic?, ask them.
Agreed, doing all this makes you lose weight on the weighing machine for a while.
Will you be able to continue this boring thing of 2hrs cardio everyday, lifelong?
I guess, no one can.
Once when you leave it, then the problem emerges.
As mentioned above, you are losing ur muscle and not fat. So that fat is still present. Your body has a tendency to gain those muscles back as you leave cardio and hence the weight of that muscle which you lost.
RESULT – BACK TO ZERO, after all that hard work.
You need to work smart;).
We all have had that one person, saying I left gyming and started gaining more.
That’s not because of the gym, it’s because you have been working out in a wrong way.;)
And smart work is that you train both muscle fibres present in your body. By wholesome workouts, I meant that you do such combination of exercises which trains your aerobic as well as your anaerobic muscles.
Aerobic muscles are trained through cardio and anaerobic muscles can be trained through weight training, yoga and sometimes also with sprinting.
Myth no. 1
BURN 600 CALORIES OR ABOVE ON A CARDIO MACHINE OR ELSE YOU WON’T BENEFIT.
Honestly, there is no magic number for anyone.
And that calorie tracking machine on your treadmill might not be accurate too. Everyone is different, our metabolic rates are also different. And it can not track all those small details which makes a lot of difference in the numbers.
TIP OF THE WEEK: Stop slogging yourself to that magic no., and instead train smart. Work in intervals of running, joging and brisk walking for 15 to 20 mins. Forget the numbers, concentrate on intensity. Short Intervals of intensity tricks your body and makes you lose more calories.
So, you guys can thank me now;). But, if you still feel that you want to continue with only cardio, no offense- POWER TO YOU. I just wanted to give you an eye opener.
